Volume 13 Issue 24

ESTES IS EXCELLENT

Mark Estes won the final match to win the Ebonite Senior Tour tournament at AMF DeSoto. The tournament leader going into that final match was C.J. Johnson. Bob McGregor won his final match to pass Johnson for second. C.J. had to settle for third. David Rountree was fourth and Chuck Pierce fifth. The bowling condition was fair on both sides of the lane. Somebody blew the retreat bugle Sunday morning, for both squads were in full retreat. The heads hooked and the oil carried down to the back ends. There was a whole year supply of lilies, five-seven  and eight-ten splits, and solid fives.  This was maybe the most demanding condition this year.

Notes:

Jim Ensminger captured the dog of the week award with 117 low game of the tournament. Has anybody seen Larry Carlson? Roger West got a blister on his left thumb from all of the Brooklyn's he yanked. Lilies were left by Mike Fleming, Larry Carlson (where were you Larry?), Nanci Johnson (she did not smile about it), Bryce Ellison (he had two of them), Syd Thornton (using a ladies ball), John Precourt, and I hope that we did not miss anybody. Mike Lynch had to watch Butch bowl the finals. Jim King was awarded a lily card from the Lily club president BD Walls. Mr. King said that he never left the lily in SASBA. Mr. Walls was the bravest SASBA bowler this tournament. He should get a medal for bravery for rolling his ball in the pocket. It was DOA. Every Shreveport bowler cashed but one. Steve (The Coach) Thompson was the only bowler from Arkansas to cash.
