RED HAT WALKABOUT A small group of SASBA Red Hatters got together last Saturday to add some miles to our pedometers and to show off our new T-shirts at Colin Creek Mall in Plano. Our event started off in the usual manner (CeCe was late). We headed out to eat as planned, then exercised our woman’s prerogative and decided to eat at the tea room in downtown Plano instead where we snagged a parking place on 14th Street right off the bat and the last table available at the tearoom. The food was delicious and we were on a roll. After lunch, we visited a couple of the shops downtown, then headed to the mall for the serious shopping (I mean walking). It was an uneventful trip – only two honks, one snort, and one slightly irritated man. We drove right into a parking space in front of Macy’s too. I know we should have parked in the farthest spot and walked, but really, how often do you find a parking space in front of a store on a Saturday afternoon. We just couldn’t pass it up! We spent two hours shopping and walking and talking. Our event organizer, Alene Hensley, did a great job and I think she did the most shopping although your Queenie and CeCe were right behind her. Jan Colaluca was the only one who showed any restraint. If Peggy had not fallen that morning and got a knot on her noggin, she would probably have bested us all. We had several people stop us and ask about our T-shirts – they were all intrigued to find out that SASBA stood for Sisters Associated with Senior Bowling Addicts. I think they all thought we were very brave to be associated with addicts – I’m not sure they all understood about the “bowling” part of it. It was a fun day and we missed those of you who weren’t there, but most of all, you missed a good time. Whenever two or more SASBA Red Hatters get together, a good time breaks out. Keep walking! Queenie Jeanne PS – We all agreed that so far the best thing to come from our walking contest is that we all feel stronger and healthier. That alone is reason enough to keep it up. Alene will be publishing April’s results soon, so keep your eyes peeled for an email. |
