Text Box: Benz / Cabanski Triumph In Houston!
Text Box: Bowling consistently high scores and winning their matches, Ron Benz and Matt Cabanski ran down Saturday leaders David Ozio and Marc Laracuente to win the SASBA member/guest tournament at Palace Lanes in Houston, TX. Laracuente shot 581 over on Saturday to set what appears to be a USBC 8-game series record and going into Sunday, they looked unbeatable. However, as history has proven, anything can happen in Text Box: this format. Ron and Matt were on a mission and would not be turned back and they won convincingly. Jim Stephens and Chris Johnson got third, Larry Thompson Sr. and Jr. got fourth and Paul Coover and Jay Burgess rounded out the top five.
Thanks to Bill Lillard and David Jay for being great hosts. Bill was in attendance every day and had plenty of bowling war Text Box: stories to tell. The shot was high scoring. Award scores were falling like rain for those who could figure out the carry.
This was one of the toughest fields in a long time and you could have made 4-5 All Star teams from the ones who did not make the finals.

Text Box: Joe Keylon made the finals in his first SASBA tournament. Tom Bolton got “Dog of the Week” honors with a beautiful 143.
There was a Peggy sighting, and she got trapped in the elevator with the Minnesota “Golden Gophers” track team. Neptune made the finals. Nicky Pat got a check and shot 300. Bill Smith showed up and made it.
