Text Box: Mark Williams Wins 2nd SASBA Title
Text Box: Mark Williams looked like he was going to run away from the field, but Paul McCordic ran him down and actually had a 3-pin lead entering the final game at Four Season Bowl in Alexandria, LA. Mark started with a four bagger, but failed to carry in the 4th, 5th and 6th..before another four bagger sealed the win. Paul had an open in the 2nd, but rebounded with a string of strikes to make a match out of it. The final score was 258-238.
Rick Minier bowled great to get 3rd, Joe LeCroy was 4th and Jim Text Box: Stephens rounded out the top five. Ernest Ross made his first finals and finished 9th.
Thanks to Rusty Bethley for all his hard work making this tournament special. He raised $3000 added money, had free access to ball spinners, provided a free meal on Saturday and had lots of extras from the Paragon Casino. Thanks again to Hixon Autoplex and to Dallas Hixon for tossing out a ceremonial first ball ( a strike)!
Our next tourney is Text Box: the Firecracker at Plano Super Bowl. It is two tournaments in one (50-59 and over 60) and has $3500 added in each one. Regular sweepers on Friday, qualifying begins on Saturday and the finals are on Monday (match play..double elimination).
Text Box: Kenny beat Randy, but Randy ate more crawfish. Judy and Jerry got checks. Bobby Wilkinson made an appearance and was first out. Ricky Achord was “looking good”. No one left the lily, but Text Box: several left 2/3 of it. Rountree made it and declared his achievement as the “biggest miracle in the history of bowling”. Melvin Bauer beat out Charlie Hufford for Text Box: “Dog of The Week” 142-147. “El Presidente” almost made it.
Ziggy wins the consistency award..scoring between 200 and 228 every game.
