Text Box: Minier Wins 8th SASBA Title!
Text Box: Rick Minier started the tournament with a 300 game, then struggled somewhat through the rest of qualifying, but came alive in the finals barely edging out Maury Newman for his 6th SASBA victory. Maury entered the last game trailing by 55 pins, but caught up quickly and entering the 10th could have shut Rick out with the first two. He spared and struck, setting up a potential tie. With a strike in the 9th, Rick could have gone spare strike and they would Text Box: have ended up dead even. However Rick struck out and clinched the title.
Thanks to Mike Nelson, Pete Treybig and Bill Lillard for being great hosts. The shot was demanding on both sides and carry was a fleeting thing…as no one figured it out for the entire tournament.
Paul McCordic got 3rd, Dennis Francis finished 4th and Randy Summers rounded out the top 5. There were Text Box: several new bowlers at Copperfield and some back from over 10 years absence. 11 Super Seniors made the finals, including 72 years young Win Cockrell. M.J. Janek made it for the first time. Our next tournament is in Shreveport at All Star Lanes August 16-17.

Text Box: SWs and CPs were too numerous to mention, though a certain attorney got both in the same frame. 300s were rolled by Paul McCordic, Kenny Text Box: Gullette, and Rick Minier
Gullette also got “Dog of the Week” in the finals with a beautiful 120. Larry Reynolds made it again from the Text Box: early squad. Mr. T won the Friday sweeper.
The “Legend Slayer” made it. The “Legend” did not.
 Estes is a SS now.
