Text Box: sighting. There were seven Super Seniors in the finals and all finished in the top 12.
Text Box: Rudy Garcia got “Dog of the Week” with a nice 136 game. Sonny Smith and Terry Songer got checks in their Text Box: first tournament. Lil made it again. Mr. Twister did a great job of handicapping. There was a Hardesty Text Box: Jim’s Notes
Text Box: Bernie Allen dazzled everyone Saturday with an amazing +562 for his 8 game block. This was a SASBA record and according to the USBC record book, the 4th highest all-time.
Sunday morning, the 66 year old righthander lost his carry a little and had tough luck in his first matches. His big lead had dwindled to only a few pins. Greg Benefield, in his SASBA debut, finally caught Bernie and led going into the position round. Greg started with 9/XXXX, but a 6-8 in the 6th ended his Text Box: hopes, because Bernie went XXXXXXX before an 8 pin stopped his run. But, he had enough pins to cinch the lead and the victory. Greg held on to 2nd, CJ Johnson got 3rd, and Charlie Hufford and Charlie Lacy tied for 4th.
Thanks to Jerry and Kathy Beavers for being great hosts, as usual. The shot was high-scoring and fair left and right. Straighter was greater , as if you covered a lot of boards, you lost carry.
300s were shot by Bernie, C.J., Ron Boroff, Ben Edwards Text Box: and Vic Benedict. Bernie, Rob Pohlman and C.J. had the only 800s.
Our next tournament is next week at Metro Bowl in Baton Rouge. The member/member doubles in Duncanville is limited to the first 48 paid entries, so get your entries in now. The only restrictions are that two champions cannot bowl together unless one is over 60, and no two tour champs can bowl together.
