Text Box: Pat Currie was throwing it like in the old days as he led the qualifying, fell behind early in the finals, then clawed his way back with some big games. Entering the title match at Lone Star Lanes in Sherman, TX, Mark Hill led Pat by 20 pins with Joe Lecroy only 49 behind him. Mark had carry problems early and Pat started with the front 7 strikes. Mark got it going and could have struck out in the 9th and 10th to force Pat to double again, but a 10 pin stopped Mark’s run and Pat took it off the sheet for good measure and won his 6th SASBA title.
Joe got 3rd, Mark Text Box: Williams was 4th and Mark Estes rounded out the top 5.
Thanks to Holly at Lone Star Lanes and to Steve and Cindy McBride for making this tournament possible. The shot was fair and scores were high.
Bob Dalton and Gerry Keslar made their first finals. 82 yrs. Young O.D. Wingard almost made it and finished 24th. 300s were shot by Tam Wasson, Mike Fleming and Currie.
Our next tournament is full with two on the waiting list. The final vote on the price increase was 36-4 in favor of the increase. Text Box: It will go into effect for the trio tournament in Euless in April. To recap, singles entry fees will be $180 and non-singles will be $190. The Firecracker, Annual championship and Bob Summerville Memorial will be $230 and half the field will cash. The added money by the house will be increased to $2250.
We have been getting a little lax in wearing our name shirts and name tags lately, so we need to all make a concerted effort to improve...so we don’t have to institute a “PBA” like fine.
