Text Box: and bowled great. John Sands got a check. Rit bowled the greatest 170 game in the history of bowling! Youngerberry beat Elderberry. MM’s new game looks great.
Text Box: Rules reminder:
When you strike on the first ball, you do not have to get your spare ball and shoot a 10 pin at a full rack...as Roger Parish did Saturday. Force of habit, I guess. Bryce Text Box: had the only 300 game...and an MM. Kenny Tynan gave $25 gift certificates to RJ’s Restaurant for A and B “Dogs of the Squad” and first out of the sweeper. Mike beat Butch. Rookie was Text Box: Jim’s Notes
Text Box: Rookie Delery Matherne, in only his 3rd SASBA tourney, led the qualifying and most of the finals, but trailed Kenny Winstead by 27 pins entering the title match. The winner of the match would win the tournament. Both started with a turkey, then Kenny hung a 10 pin in the 4th. Delery struck twice more and Kenny struck, then left a pocket 7-10...giving Delery a big lead. He struck for a 6-bagger, then a stone 8 and ring 10 allowed Kenny to catch up a little. In the 9th Delery left the 1-2-4-10 washout and if he didn’t convert it, Kenny could still win. Delery calmly picked it up and Text Box: struck in the 10th to seal the victory. Kenny bowled good enough to win most of them, but just fell a little short. Rick Minier got 3rd, Roger West finished 4th and Jerry Beavers rounded out the top five.
Thanks to Claude Thomas for being a great host. Syd Thornton helped bunches as usual and Linda cooked for everyone.
Norm Richardson and Bob Schille made their first finals. Neptune is back and made the finals as well.
