Text Box: In a more grueling format than normal, Mark Williams outlasted Dennis Francis to gain his 7th SASBA title at the Annual Championship at AMF Euless Lanes in Euless, TX. Dennis led the qualifying and kept trading 1st place with Randy Summers and Mark through the first 11 games of the finals. Entering the title match, Dennis had to win the game by 32 pins to pass him. Mark started with a 10-pin spare, then a four-bagger. Dennis got the front six. Mark then left a 7-10 and if Dennis took it off the sheet he would close Mark out. Dennis left a 4-7-9, but picked it up. However, a 4-6 in the next frame ended Text Box: Dennis’ chances and Mark went off the sheet to win the match. Randy held on for 3rd place, Tam Wasson was 4th and Rick Minier rounded out the top five. Special note: Steve Wright got the last spot for Sunday morning and came all the way from 50th to make the finals and finish 13th. Nice comeback Steve!
Thank to Rusty Dickinson for being a great host. This center is one of the cleanest and best run that we bowl in.
300s were bowled by Mark, Gary James and Gene Rivers. Several super seniors made the finals and only Dennis and Randy Text Box: were able to stick with the younger seniors.
Out next tournament is the over 60/ over 70 doubles in Corsicana in two weeks. Only 3 spots left in that one. The following week, we’ll be in Longview for a regular singles event. The foursome is full. Let us know if you want to get on the waiting list.
