Text Box: Jim King took the lead Sunday morning during qualifying and led the rest of the way to hold off the field at Bandera Super Bowl in San Antonio.
Entering the final game, Bryce Ellison could pass Jim if he won the match by 57 pins. Gary Dickinson was 2 pins behind Bryce and Ernest Ross was 36 pins behind Gary.
Bryce was plagued with a missed spare and a few splits, so was out of it early. Gary and Ernest had carry problems and Jim Text Box: stayed clean and strung a few strikes. Gary had to mark in the 10th to secure 2nd place and Ernest got 3rd, while Bryce fell to 4th. Maury Newman had a big 277 the last game to jump from 9th to 5th.
Thanks to Joe Vito and crew for hosting again this year.
Our next tourney is the Annual Team Tournament at Plano Super Bowl in Plano, TX. Get your entry in early, as the last few could get shut out. The Text Box: computer picks the 5-man teams, so total entries have to be a multiple of five.
The first weekend in January, we’re in Beaumont for a member/guest doubles. The house pattern will be used this year, so scores should be higher. The following week, we’re going back to USA Bowl in Dallas for a regular singles.
