Text Box: Text Box: Steve Ray is back throwing it good again and made the finals. Bob Troutt made the finals in his first SW SASBA outing. 300s were bowled by T.J. (2), Rob Pohlman, Mark Williams, Robbie and first timer Mike Garcia. Pat Currie and Phil Gessner left the lily. We picked up 3 more new Text Box: members this tournament. Keep it up recruiters!

Special note: Jamie and Gayle put on a show at the Calcutta. They wore Western hats vest and even a “coyote” coat. Thanks also to Gordon Stuntz for doing a great job with the announcements in my Text Box: Jim’s Notes
Text Box: After qualifying 3rd, T.J. Johnson used a 300 in the 1st game of the finals to vault into the lead, then held off the field to win his 2nd SASBA title in a row and 4th overall. There were lots of superlatives to note. 2nd place finisher David Rountree, could have passed T.J. if he won the title match by 41 pins, but T.J. started with the front 11 to seal the deal. David’s hard work on his game is certainly paying off. Robbie Kauffman bowled on A squad Sunday morning and made the finals, then climbed all the way to Text Box: 3rd place. Nice bowling Robbie! Avery LeBlanc suffered from a severe staph infection at the end of last year, but kicked off 2010 with a nice 4th place finish. 70-yrs. young Tip Bullock bowled like a 30 yr. old to round out the top five.

Thanks to Sue Ellis and crew for all their hard work getting USA Bowl ready for us. This center used to be a mainstay on the SASBA tour, but had not hosted us in a few years. This time, the center had been remodeled, was extremely clean and Text Box: the shot was fair, consistent and held up well.

Our next tourney is a Super Senior singles in Denton. Daniel Cruz has his lane machine in good order and is eager to make this a great event. Super Bowl weekend, we’ll be at Holiday Lanes in OKC for a regular singles. Later in February, we’ll be in Port Arthur at the renovated MegaPlay USA for a singles tourney. It’s our first time to Port Arthur in years…let’s have a big turnout.
