The Lafayette, LA tournament has been renamed The Richard Butchee Memorial Labor Day Blowout and has $6000 added. Sweepers on Friday , 6 games Sat, 6 games Sun, then matchplay Mon. (2 out of 3). Four Super Seniors are guaranteed to the finals. The following week, we will be in Text Box: David Ozio Wins 1st SASBA Title!
Text Box: Sweeper Winners
Text Box: SASBA rookie, David Ozio, took the lead Saturday afternoon and never looked back, winning 7 of 8 matches and cruising to his 1st SASBA victory at Spanish Trail Lanes in Gauter, MS. Entering the final game he had a 180 pin lead over Dale Dumbleton. David responded with a 300 in the title match to widen his lead to almost 300 pins. Nice bowling David. I’m sure it won’t be your last SASBA title. Dale held on to 2nd over a hard-charging Charlie Hufford, who qualified 16th, then got hot the last 6 games to finish 3rd. Chuck Maher bowled great again to nail down 4th and Chuck Pierce rounded out the top 5. Charles Alexander also bowled a 300.
Thanks to Chuck Holbert and staff for being great hosts. The shot was tricky with Text Box: subtle differences from pair to pair, but held up great and both sides were playable. Only those who were on top of their game made it look easy.
Kenny Winstead spent all weekend conserving water in Ricky “Rookie” Achord’s RV, so Rookie could have a 30 min. shower. Fred lost yet another side bet on the cut estimate. Several SASBA wives “got lucky” at the casinos.Sonny & Meisner got lost! No fat guys made the finals. Was it the heat or the seafood buffets? Randy Summers won the Big Board with a 168-187 finish! Gordon “Samuel Taylor Coleridge” Stuntz bowled great qualifying, then took a nap in the finals. Gillane’s wheels Text Box: Text Box: Charles Alexander
