Text Box: No one was able to hold onto the lead until Maury Newman became the leader going into the position round at TimberLodge Lanes in Monticello, AR. The lead changed hands after each of the first 7 games with Jim King, Mark Williams, Roger West and Ron Woodruff all failing to stay in first place after leading. In the last game, the quartet of Newman, Mike Fleming, Williams and King all had a shot to win with a big game.

Text Box: Early in the game, it looked like Fleming, in 3rd place, might run off another string as he had done several times earlier. However, he lost his carry and Maury, bowling Williams, got a crucial four bagger late in the game to preserve the lead...and the victory. It was Maury’s 11th SASBA title and first as a Super Senior.
